DIC to be default. I would try a full repair at that point. I found that it was enough to copy the custom. This resets permissions on the file, which I believe were causing the problem.
You can find the custom. You also may want to confirm that your Office is Activated. Let us know how it goes. My issue was actually in Outlook not Word but on checking this articel I found out problem existed in both.
Not now though, as workaround fixed both. Had to restart Outlook though. If Outlook works as expected in safe mode, disable the add-ins by following steps mentioned below and determine the problem causing add-in:. If the issue reappears again, it will help you to determine which add-in is causing this issue.

Normally, we advise you to have only one custom dictionary, and set its language to "no language" so that it can accept words from text marked in any language. Your problem is either you have set the custom dictionary to have a language, and your text is not in that language, or the text you are working on is in a language you do not have installed.
